Once a project is photographed, we go to work to get it published, as long as publication is approved by our client and homeowner. While property releases serve as written permission for us to pursue publication, we contact clients and homeowners each time a project is going to be published. We also furnish the editor or writer of an editorial feature with our client's contact information for interview purposes.
Editorial usage fees are obtained through negotiations between architectural photographers and publications. Nearly all publications expect to pay usage fees to photographers for the use of their images. Editorial photoraphy use constitutes third party use, as the publication is using the residential architectural photography to promote their product, a magazine or book, which is sold to consumers in order to make a profit.
